#StagePlay This Sunday at Terra Kulture: Command Performance of Femi Osofisan’s THE ORIKI OF A GRASSHOPPER

Watch “THE ORIKI OF A GRASSHOPPER” written by Professor Femi Osofisan and directed by Toyin Oshinaike this Sunday at Terra Kulture.

If you missed the first showing of this fantastic play last weekend, catch the command performance this Sunday, February 8, 2015.

What is the oriki of a grasshopper?
…a SONG that breaks the STRONG??

The play presents a milieu of Politicians, Thespians, lecturers, businessmen, Students, Civil servants, Police & indeed a rich society with dreams & hopes; of slums yielding place to skyscrapers, of forests shaping into radiant cities, with schools, hospitals, factories, fertile farmlands and love for fellow humans.

But dreams die first from the perspective of three Nigerians under a very tense atmosphere of typical West African politics. A left wing academic, his former student (now lover & fellow Leftist), and his longtime friend (now capitalist protagonist).
Under siege of dogs, armed police and imminent insecurities, introspection reveals double standards of dissected personalities who project genuine freedom yet seek monolithic ideological lifestyles.

These characters even manage to lace their “ORIKI” (song) with hard humor. Get ready to be thrilled by this hilarious & gripping theatre production starring some of the very best thespians.
