‘The Engagement’ by Sefi Atta on Stage at Taruwa Festival

The Engagement Play

After a successful first outing in 2013, ‘Theatre at Taruwa Festival’ returns! At its debut last year, Taruwa Festival kicked off with a stage production of Bobo Omotayo’s ‘London Life Lagos Living, and garnered rave reviews and a standing ovation. This year, the festival kicks off with ‘The Engagement’, a witty and dramatic stage play written by prize-winning Nigerian author and playwright, Sefi Atta. This play talks about a family at odds on the day of their daughter’s engagement ceremony. Watch as the plot thickens and the twists take dramatic new turns! Directed by the talented Kenneth Uphopho of ‘Harvest of Soyinka’ plays ‘Trials of Brother Jero’ and ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’. You don’t want to miss this!
